The Cross Hands Hotel in Old Sodbury
Recently refurbished, The Cross Hands Hotel is a charming old posting house dating from the 14th century and is popular nowadays with country lovers, horseracing fans, golfers, couples and our own dear Queen, who sought shelter here during a blizzard in 1981. Those who like a bit of spooky history might like to know that the cellars were once used to house convicted criminals, sentenced to death by ‘Bloody Judge’ Jeffreys.
Exit the M4 at J18 and then take the A46 towards Stroud. At the first set of traffic lights you’ll see the hotel situated on the right-hand side.
